Dreamer.I added up the numbers in my head and before I even felt it approaching the trickle of water had splashed soundlessly onto the dusty, paint-stained floor.

I scrolled down the alphabet in my head, assigned a letter to the number and felt my chest begin to cave in the way it would if I were six feet underwater with no breath in it to hold me there, and I felt the tiny invisible fingernails, like a wave of pins and needles, scraping against the slate inside walls of my spine and arms and temples the way they do when I haven't slept for two days.

I got a D for my art prac exam. A D.
